I Just started learning poser, and its integration with 3dsMax, as well as using the Mental ray, Subsurface shader.

I used a few visuals off the internet for inspiration, including one scene actually used as boxart for Poser PRO. This is more a technical excercise than artwork one.

Programs used: Poser 2010, 3ds MAX, Photoshop

I'm actually speechless. And this is much better than anything I could make, and I've been using Poser/Daz for a few months
Great job :D

Thanks josephesapa1 for the great comment!
PS. I suck at poser's rendering, so I used 3dsMax to handle everything, from lighting, the scene itself, the skin. Poser just gave me the model to work with

This is really well done. Reminds me of the Matrix, and the machines growing humans, turning them
into batteries for their energy source.

THIS IS ARTWORK dear, dont say it's more like an "exercise". It is one of the most beautiful renders I have seen this entire month. You just surprised my eyes! And I do work with 3D hun ;) so, it's not easy to surprise me ^^ Congrats!

Thanks :)

The reason why I emphasise that it isnt really artwork, is that I drew inspiration from various other factors (poser cover art, matrix etc...). My initial intention was to just make a "good looking render" I had no idea that people would appreciate it this much, only after i posted it i realised what I have done.

Depends on what you have. Im using 2X Q6600 quadcores, both overclocked to 3.2ghz.
Those are actually quite old processors in age, but 25ghz of render power never hurts.
Even if i get an i7, im keeping the old workstations. you can run a trial of max on them, still loads the mental ray raysat TSR's

Wow, nice work. It is both disturbing and intriguing. Is this the womb of the future?

interesting you call it disturbing. At first I realised her eyes are open, but then left it that way

It isn't so much the image that is disturbing but the concepts and ethical considerations attached to artificially growing humans - in and of itself there is nothing wrong with doing this, but then all sorts of questions start to pop up. Are clones property, or are they autonomous individuals with all the rights and privileges afforded a traditional womb housed baby? etc, etc... Maybe you are just making interesting pictures but these are the sort of things that come to mind when I see images like this.

Technically, im new to poser, but know max quite well.

i think this project required more experience in Mental ray shaders, lighting and rendering.

Im still struggling with lotsa basics in poser, but will get there

Thanks guys!

Im pretty new to poser, and subsurface scattering skin shader in 3ds max. Sooooo many options! took some trial and error to make the person look like that. I also took some standard maps, and photoshop tweaked them, created additional bumps etc..

Did very little post processing, was quite pleased with the render as is. Only did an ambient occlusion pass to bump up the shadow areas
